Lady Gaga's video for Born This Way, the first version, was released yesterday. If you haven't seen it yet then congratulations on getting yourself a shiny rock to hide under. I say first version because there will be another video for an acapella  version of the song. All of Gaga's proceeds from this second video will go towards a charity, I'm guessing something LGBT related. If you can't wait and must have a Gaga branded item but also want to donate to charity buy her Viva Glam lipstick from MAC.

Back to the video, it seems that people don't really get it, at least none of my classmates did. While I was glowing with joy they were confused. I thought I should write a blog post (since it's been a while) explaining my take on the video and what I understood from it.

In the first ten second of the video there's a pink upside down triangle. That was a Nazi sign they applied on homosexuals in concentration camps. It symbolizes the present.

After that the story begins, and since it's harder to follow a story that you hear, here's a transcript of the 'plot'.

This is the manifesto of Mother Monster: On G.O.A.T, a Government Owned Alien Territory in space, a birth of magnificent and magical proportions took place. But the birth was not finite. It was infinite. As the wombs numbered and the mitosis of the future began, it was perceived that this infamous moment in life is not temporal, it is eternal. And thus began the beginning of the new race, a race within the race of humanity, a race which bares no prejudice, no judgment but boundless freedom. But on that same day, as the eternal mother hovered in the mulitverse, another more terrifying birth took place, the birth of evil. And as she herself split into two. Rotating in agony between two ultimate forces, the pendulum of choice began its dance. It seems easy you imagine to gravitate instantly and unwaveringly towards good. But she wondered, “How can I protect something so perfect without evil?
Now let me explain. The next few scenes depict the birth of the new race with the before mentioned characteristics. It's actually referring to little monsters, Gaga's loyal fans, who are usually so open minded they bear no prejudice, no judgment and have boundless freedom. You can see the birth itself as well as the hatching place (the heads).

Problem is that with the birth of the new race a new form of evil was born as well. This is most likely referring to religious fanatics and other soulless bodies that only bear hatred in their empty hearts. Evil is trying to harm the pure ones. The final question is how can she protect her little monster without evil, without hating and harming others just like they are harming her children.

At the two minute mark her fully grown children, the new race makes its appearance. Speaking of which, the 'horns' are the distinctive mark of the new race, and they are gorgeous I think. This is when the song starts. It doesn't matter if love him or capital Him, him is a person while Him is God. The birth of the new race took place out of God's will and hence God makes no mistakes, I'm on the right track, I'm beautiful in my way.

The lyrics are empowering on the same lane as the video and its plot. The third eye on her chin helps make another upside down triangle.

You might not understand why there is so much dance and joy in the video and I'll tell you that you're down right stupid if so. Can't you hear that you must accept yourself, love yourself and rejoice!? It is the dance of happiness, unity and love (hence it ends with a huge group hug as the new race has a tight bound in itself).

Another issue might be with the Don't be a drag, just be a queen verse. I must say that it has nothing to do with drag queens, it is not against them. It must rather be interpreted as an advice to keep your dignity and chip up high and not stop others who know what they are doing.

Then there's the whole Rico, the human zombie boy, scene. His tattoos are real while Gaga's aren't. I'm still not sure as to how to interpret it but I think it has something to do with versatility, hence the formal outfit which is in contract with the rebellious nature of ink on skin. Gaga has admitted that Willow Smith inspired her to whip her hair back and forth.

The birthing scene is back as the mitosis is infinite. My favorite moment is at the 5:34 mark when evil makes a strong comeback after another scene from its birth. Synchronized hand movement depicts the fact that the new race acts as one and supports each other, motif strengthened by the group hug.

The video ends on a high note as Gaga pays tribute to the King and Queen of Pop, Michael Jackson and Madonna. In the end the triangle is the right side up, symbolizing the fact that there is no wrong, creating a visual for the entire record while establishing a contrast with the beginning of the video.

The final frames of the music video depict Gaga popping a bubble gum balloon, only to get a message across, a passage from her Anderson Cooper interview on 60 minutes: People take me both too seriously and not seriously enough. I hope someone still remembers my seriously phase. In the same interview she declared the following: I just don't care what people think of me to be perfectly blunt.

What's your take on the video? I think it's an either love it or hate it thing.

PS: Happy Birthday Lela!

I've been sitting here with the new post tab opened for over an hour now trying to write my opinion on Lady Gaga's freshly released Born This Way single. I'm sorry but words simply cannot express how wonderful, epic, great, awesome, strong, important, moving, motivating, inspiring this song is. Just fucking hit play below and start trippin'. You better be fucking ready for Sunday's Grammy performance and future video (which has already been shot). It will break records. Make history. Change lives.

I want your ugly.
I want your disease.
I want your everything as long as it's free.
I want your love.

These are the opening lines from Bad Romance, a truly amazing record by Lady Gaga that has not only changed my perspective and opinion on pop music and culture but also changed my life.

It was the spring of 2008 when I first listened to Just Dance, Gaga's debut single. Back then I had no idea I would fall in love with that funky looking blonde girl. Fast forwarding to the autumn of 2009, Gaga had already established her presence on the pop music scene trough several number one hit wonders and was about to unleash her bad romance.

Mesmerizing you with some Russian violin compositions and blowing your mind with futuristic beats and honest lyrics, her song had me hooked right from the beginning. Accompanied by what was going to be declared Video of the year by MTV, the tune was destined for success and glory.

How did it change my opinion about pop music? Simply put, it had all the right things in all the right places: hidden meanings buried within the lyrics, amazing dance moves, French words heavenly pronounced and a great storyline overall.

It made me realize that pop is so much more than pretty girls pretending to sing while dancing or the other way around. I've become an avid fan ever since.

I am a very proud Little Monster.

Who knew an acoustic guitar over Gaga's masterpiece, Alejandro, could sound so...so...amazing?
Definitely didn't cross my mind. Such a lovely Sunday, isn't it?

Lady Gaga

La rebelle fleur unleashed her video for Only Girl (In the world), the debut single from a new era. A LOUD era, get it?

Funny little thing, the video actually matches the new look of my blog. Speaking of which, you might notice Gaga "in the top right corner" (I'll now quietly hope for the inside joke to reach its destination). It is rumored that Rihanna and Gaga got together for Broken Heels, a song destined to smash tops, hearts, ears...and heels. And like all good things it quickly got cut off by some fancy label company representative denying the existence of such collaboration. I still want it to be real. Oh and the album shall be released mid-November, on 16th or so.

But now let's focus on the one and only girl, here's the official video:

Enjoyed it? I sure hope you did. It's in the whole 'nothing darker than deep purple and quite red' theme. RiRi is continuing the clean/pure/innocent bride fashion motif from the VMA's. Colorful balloons and a spinning Barbadian never went together so well. That long swing looks like fun and that lonely rose flower is just an emphasis on the nature leitmotif.

The slow motion synchronized visual effects in the end make you realize Rihanna is gorgeous, in case the silly faces in the beginning haven't quite convinced you.

Talking 'bout endings, you didn't think that was it, did ya? Oh na na, I have more to tell you! What's my name, a chill song which features Drake just leaked onto the interwebz. Hit the play button below and enjoy this awesome Friday. Yes, TGIF.

Glee is doing a Britney tribute episode. As always, some of the songs have leaked online ahead of time. I'm totally digging Toxic. Waiting to see if they go crazy with the outfits like they did for Bad Romance. Stop hating Glee, kay? Go back to Justin Bieber or something.

Ace of Base is back!

Backed up by new vocals their fan base suffered drastic changes. Melancholics seem to dislike the new girls. I think they should embrace the change. This ain't the 90's. Things, and people, have changed. Sex sells more than ever.

I,for one, love the new vocals, not sure which one of the girls has the raspy voice but it's great. The solo around the 2 20 mark is lovely.

Their comeback was, however, timed perfectly. Right when Alejandro is stuck in everyone's brain. Permanently. Gaga's hit has Ace of Base influences so the two should just slow. People say that one of their leaked songs/demo, Golden Ratio, sounds just like Poker Face. I don't hear that as they both remind me of Eh, Eh, Nothing else I can say.

Was the wait worthwhile?

Lady Gaga

Happy Second Birthday The Fame. We now love you even more! Paws up!

Recently there have been quite a few collaboration statements, pointed towards Gaga. Warning: Wall of text.

Lady Gaga

Susan Boyle about Gaga: I think Lady Gaga is a wonderful artist and completely original and I like her costumes. Love it! Yes, I’d love to do a duet with her, complete with telephone hat too!

Gaga about Susan Boyle: I love Susan Boyle. She is my woman of the year. It would be great to work with somebody of that talent.

Mika about Gaga: Pop music is really odd at the moment. Gaga has launched every single woman in pop music into this crazy personality crisis. I don’t think men have felt it, it’s a female thing.

Zandra Rhodes: If she did ever want me to design her something, I’d do what I did with Freddie Mercury and Queen – I’d just get her to come over and she could pick out the sort of thing she fancied and I’d work with that. It’s all about seeing how something moves. She could try a few pieces on and we could go from there.

David Bowie: The suggestion that David Bowie is producing and participating in the production of Lady Gaga’s next album is untrue and a hoax.

Janet Jackson on Gaga: What I love about Gaga is her story, where she came from. Before she made it, before anyone knew who she was, I knew who she was and, to see her finally make it, I was so happy . . . if we were to work together that would be cool. I really love Gaga, yeah, and she’s a sweetheart. It’s not always the case when you meet them. You can enjoy their work, but it’s not always … so pleasant when you get to know their personality, and she truly is a sweetheart. She works so hard, and I told her, I think she needs to slow down just a little bit, take some time out for herself.

Lastly, but not least: Happy belated Birthday Dad.

Dance in the Dark is Gaga's next/current single. It has been released to the aussie radios last week. Also it had an official cover since November and a remix of it is included on Gaga's latest musical release: The Remix [A remix for each of her singles].

Back to DITD: It is the opening song on her tour, it's what makes the crows start roaring so I think it will be more than welcomed. Rumor has it that it's only an AU single, that it won't have a video, that it's only a test and blah blah. No matter what the case is IT is an awesome song. Enjoy!

I promised you it so here's my Vampires Suck movie review. *Spoiler alert!*

The movie is supposedly only for those who could not sit throughout the original ones, and by them, but I don't think that's true. I enjoyed the originals and found this parody hilarious!

Plot:
The storyline follows both Twilight and New Moon, combined. Omits some parts of course but it's sticking to the original story. What makes it hilarious? The references, exaggerations and acting. It is not your everyday parody, you need your brain to get the jokes, which range from subtle as "No Service" iPhone [At&t joke] trough The Black Eyed Peas joke and up to Jacob's contract. You need to watch tv shows to get some of the jokes such as TrueBlood [HBO tv show/drink], Glee [Where the main girl there gets egged as well], Gossip Girl's narration [laughed so hard!], The Jersey Shore cast is there and so are The Kardashians references . But most jokes are about the original movies so you should be fine with only that.

Cast: Excellent! They resemble the original cast and aren't exactly no names, seen most of them before.

Special effects: Well done but exaggerated, obviously!

Music: Nothing special, except It's raining men! LOL Music is almost always present but it's quite subtle, special, and cliche, sounds however are all over the place.

Verdict: Worth watching! If only for the fans gone wild and Gaga's five seconds appearance!

Gaga performed a little concert for her little monsters for free, courtesy of The Today Show. The audio quality is not the greatest so I'm not quite sure if Gaga actually said that You & I will be on her next album but it seemed like it to me, and that would be quite a contradiction to the fact that she said she won't even put it on iTunes as it is a little treat for her fans, something special for the concerts only.

Also one of the hosts called Teeth a single, which it isn't, not yet!

Can't say much about this song other than the fact that it's by DJ Mozzie, whoever he is. The mash up is between Gaga's Love Game and Ce Ce Peniston's Finally, the '08 remake.

It takes the vocals from Gaga and adds some awesome beats from Finally, an awesome song on it's own. Gaga also has her official mash-up between Finally and Dance in the dark, it's the intro to her Monster Ball tour.

I was searching for Gaga's version when I stumbled upon it. It's almost a year old yet it barely managed to get a bit over two thousand views. It's sad if you ask me because I really like it.

Let's give it another chance, shall we?
