If you've read my blog before you know that OneRepublic is my favorite band, Goodbye Apathy is one of my favorite songs from Dreaming out loud and I'll tell you why if you keep reading.

First of all, I have to tell you how I first "met" the song. It was the winter of '07 and I had just received an mp3 player for my birthday. Earlier that year Apologize has been released and OneRepublic was the thing so I decided to put my new toy to the test and download their album. God bless the interwebz and USB ports.

Everything was fine during the first play, album sounded good, I was loving the ten Apologize remixes that I got separately, but there was a problem. I didn't know what apathy meant. Since it was one of my night sessions the computer was off, everyone was sleeping and an iPhone was only a dream. It kept me awake for a while as I wanted to find out what it meant. By the other words I figured it must be some kind of emotion. Little did I know it was actually the absence of such thing.

Back to the song, it was stuck in my head after so many plays but I didn't mind it, I actually liked it. Lyrics such as I can't sleep now, no, not like I used to / I can't breathe in and out like I need to indicated a change. I kill myself to make everything perfect for ya suggested love. Dedication to make the loved one happy.

The alternative rock song has a good vibe to it, describing the birth of love and how it can change people. But don't trust me, listen for yourself! And while enjoying the song please tell me your thoughts on the artwork I've created [much like all of the fan art you can see on the site].

If this is your first time reading my blog you should consider either adding me on Facebook or following me on Twitter. I've set up TwitterFeed to update my statuses whenever I post new content, aka daily.

The Eska Music Awards called them band of the year, I simply think OneRepublic is awesome.
Ever since I first heard Apologize I've loved them. Haven't always been the best fan, not like I'm with Gaga since our relationship is special, but I'm doing my best. Actually I think they're by far my favorite band, and I know someone else likes them a lot as well.

Just like Apologize, Marchin on has been tempered with by Timbaland, being featured both on albums, Waking up and Shockvalue 2. History repeats itself so are we to expect another video for the song featuring Timbaland? It would help promoting the song but I don't think I can stand yet another chin rubbing video so I hope not.

The song is uptempo, uplifting and helps diagnose emo people by making everyone clap, move their feet, dance [keep the rhythm]. Feel the power!

The lyrics and beat of the song made the Germans pick it as their world cup hymn. Even the single cover uses Germany's flag colors: black, red and gold.

At the beginning of the month a simple, multicolored, low budget video was shot. What makes me love the video is that, unlike most of the music videos out there, it actually follows the rhythm of the song. The video is shaped around the drums. Just watch the video and you'll see what I mean.

Tell me what you want to hear

You might've seen parts of this video before. That's because the video isn't exactly brand new. There are two other versions for the song, Secrets. One of them had the band playing in the studio and the other was a promo for Lost which, by the way, is ending quite soon.

But that belongs to the past. This is the "official" version, as in the final one. It has a background story, somewhat.

Sick of all the insincere

Without further ado, here's the video:

Lost then Found, sang by Leona Lewis and Ryan from OneRepublic, is part of Leona's Echo album. Stone Hearts & Hand Grenades is a hidden track appended to Lost Then Found, they are in the same file, which I thought was some kind of error at first since there's a substantial pause between the two.

The song puts a series of question, questions which kept me awake for a while a few days ago.

Why do we say things we can't take back?
Why do we miss what we never had?
Why do you tend to forget whose vain?

The song is a rhythmic soul one, somewhat slow yet uplifting. Leona and Ryan's voices work well together and complements each other, making the finished product a great one. I sure hope they promote it after Leona's done with I got you.

On the standard version the song is the last one on the album. Not sure if it was put there deliberately but I think it's brilliant. It makes you take a break and think of answers while the album starts playing again.

Thanks to Diesector for suggesting me to write about it. And Hi Schlossy! Happy now?

So there's this amazing American pop rock band, OneRepublic.

/-No? Have you been living under a rock?
Have you ever heard of them?-
\-Yes? Great! Keep up the great taste in music!

They have a lot of great songs, their entire Dreaming Out Loud album is awesome and there are some good ones on the new Waking up album as well. Though after the epic first album the new one was quite a disappointment, for me at least.

For once lyrics have meaning. The songs stop being heard and start being felt. You don't listen to their music, you FEEL IT!

Their most famous song is probably Apologize, thanks to Timbaland who...edited it. That's how I discovered them at least. I'm not sure it's their best though, sound wise cause financially it sure is.

My personal favorites are:
-Apologize
-Secrets
-Goodbye Apathy
-Say (All I need)
-Mercy
-Stop and Stare
-Won't Stop
-All Fall Down
-All the Right Moves
-Good Life

That's a long list, I knooow! But they are the kind of band that keep a flow on the album. I can just listen to them over and over again and never be bothered to skip a song. They induce a relaxing mood. Some of their songs are uplifting but most of them have a deep meaning, and if you can understand the lyrics it's almost impossible to not FEEL them!

I hereby invite you to buy OneRepublic's albums. Trust me, they are worth it! Oh and if this post got you interested in them, keep an eye on my blog. I will try and take my personal favorites one by one and comment them.
