And something to go perfectly with it

Shut your mouth and close the door.

My God am I enjoying this. It's been almost a week since I've started listening only to Natalia Kills, the newest and brightest dark pop star. Now, after the OMG-ish CAE exam, it's time for me to spread the word.

Mirrors is her first single off the future album, Perfectionist. The song is just screaming Rather R and The Fame Monster. But don't take this the wrong way, I LOVE those albums, they are the apogee of last year in terms of music. Sadly both Gaga and Riri and moving away from the dark pop area, leaving a hole to be filled, Kills might be the one to fit.

Amazing video and song. This is serious. Shit is about to go down. You can slap me if I'm wrong

Do yourself justice and plug in your best headphones before pressing play on the video below. My ears are about to blow and so should be yours.

This is the first post from my new laptop. I thought I should mention that. Now nothing can stop me from blogging, I've even been thinking of starting to truly tumblr, not only stalk other people. I would've wanted the first post to be something Gaga related but there's no new material from her and I'm afraid you'll slay me if I post some random remix. I still love her, don't worry, not posting about her does not mean I got over the whole Little Monster thing.

Back to the real subject, Pink's Raise your glass song is quite great. It's somewhere in top ten on the Billboard chart but who cares. Last night she performed it on the AMAs and it was quite fun, she put on quite a show for the audience. Right after seeing that I YouTube'd her only to realize in shame that she also has a video for the single. Been released at the beginning of this month. And my God, is it awesome.

It's fun, interesting, awkward, quirky and cool, all at the same time. It's also a typical Pink video, has a lot of funny scenes, all related to the lyrics.

She recently announced that she is pregnant so I guess that means double the reason to raise your glass for her. So raise your glass is you are wrong for all the right reasons and hit that play button.

Rihanna

Thought I'd leave you a little something to enjoy while I am pretending to be busy. There are some really good tracks on Rihanna's latest album, Loud. I love them all, for very different reasons. Give the album a spin and tell me in the comments below what your favorite song is.

Rihanna

Tired of sitting in the backseat Rihanna took control over her newest video, which features Drake. Featuring a different kind of love story, not a dysfunctional one unlike Love the way you lie, Rihanna falls in love with Drake, or the other way around.

The fairly limited range of locations helps keep the story somewhat fluid thought I still don't know what is up with those drummers even after watching the video a couple of times. Not to worry, the song is great and makes up for the ordinary video.

Billboard's Hot 100 top has the song placed on the very top. I guess people really like the song. Plus, Only Girl is on the 4th place so she's quite cool at the moment.

You just got to ignite the light and let it shine. Just (dance) own the night.

I liked Katy's Firework from the very beginning. Her Teenage dream album was released this summer and I've had it on heavy rotation during my work weeks. It did not sell very well but I love it.

My God is the video amazing or what? There are so many things to love about it.

First of all, Miss Perry is done with silly wigs, for now at least, and she's looking as beautiful as always. It is clear that she loves purple, as does Gaga (lavender)...and my sister. Speaking of which, I need a new purple T-Shirt and maybe an orange one.

Second of all, special effects are great though computer generated. They help us visualize the lyrics. The crowd of people is made entirely out of winners from a local competition, all fans of Katy.

Now the characters. Woah. A sick girl (which actually shaved her head for the video), a self-depreciated girl, a different magician, a boy tired of being witness to his parents' fights and a gay couple (actual couple).  The director confessed he wanted to create a video with a deep meaning. I suppose he's done it right as all the characters manage to show their inner firework.

Did the lyrics make you go boom, boom, boom, even brighter than the moon? They certainly appealed to me. These words are now carved into my soul:

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow.

Photobucket
I want your ugly.
I want your disease.
I want your everything as long as it's free.
I want your love.

These are the opening lines from Bad Romance, a truly amazing record by Lady Gaga that has not only changed my perspective and opinion on pop music and culture but also changed my life.

It was the spring of 2008 when I first listened to Just Dance, Gaga's debut single. Back then I had no idea I would fall in love with that funky looking blonde girl. Fast forwarding to the autumn of 2009, Gaga had already established her presence on the pop music scene trough several number one hit wonders and was about to unleash her bad romance.

Mesmerizing you with some Russian violin compositions and blowing your mind with futuristic beats and honest lyrics, her song had me hooked right from the beginning. Accompanied by what was going to be declared Video of the year by MTV, the tune was destined for success and glory.

How did it change my opinion about pop music? Simply put, it had all the right things in all the right places: hidden meanings buried within the lyrics, amazing dance moves, French words heavenly pronounced and a great storyline overall.

It made me realize that pop is so much more than pretty girls pretending to sing while dancing or the other way around. I've become an avid fan ever since.

I am a very proud Little Monster.

Who knew an acoustic guitar over Gaga's masterpiece, Alejandro, could sound so...so...amazing?
Definitely didn't cross my mind. Such a lovely Sunday, isn't it?

Lady Gaga

La rebelle fleur unleashed her video for Only Girl (In the world), the debut single from a new era. A LOUD era, get it?

Funny little thing, the video actually matches the new look of my blog. Speaking of which, you might notice Gaga "in the top right corner" (I'll now quietly hope for the inside joke to reach its destination). It is rumored that Rihanna and Gaga got together for Broken Heels, a song destined to smash tops, hearts, ears...and heels. And like all good things it quickly got cut off by some fancy label company representative denying the existence of such collaboration. I still want it to be real. Oh and the album shall be released mid-November, on 16th or so.

But now let's focus on the one and only girl, here's the official video:

Enjoyed it? I sure hope you did. It's in the whole 'nothing darker than deep purple and quite red' theme. RiRi is continuing the clean/pure/innocent bride fashion motif from the VMA's. Colorful balloons and a spinning Barbadian never went together so well. That long swing looks like fun and that lonely rose flower is just an emphasis on the nature leitmotif.

The slow motion synchronized visual effects in the end make you realize Rihanna is gorgeous, in case the silly faces in the beginning haven't quite convinced you.

Talking 'bout endings, you didn't think that was it, did ya? Oh na na, I have more to tell you! What's my name, a chill song which features Drake just leaked onto the interwebz. Hit the play button below and enjoy this awesome Friday. Yes, TGIF.

Aston, the classical pop band, is back with a new video, Only Girl (In The World), Rihanna's current single.

They've done a great job with the arrangements as the song is easy to follow and lyrics come naturally. If you haven't yet memorized the lyrics you can find them in my original post that's in the side bar on the right.

Their debut album is coming out next Friday and this is the track list:
  1. Telephone (Lady Gaga)
  2. You've Got The Love (Florence & The Machine)
  3. Viva La Vida (Coldplay)
  4. Bulletproof (La Roux)
  5. Confide In Me (Kylie)
  6. Never Tear Us Apart (INXS)
  7. Rude Boy (Rhianna)
  8. Knights Of Cydonia (Muse)
  9. Halo (Beyonce)
Only Girl will be an iTunes exclusive as will come as a bonus for purchasing the entire album.  I'm looking forward to hearing the entire album, especially Halo and You've got the love. Hope they've done something special to the songs.

Lady Gaga

Kanye West was the musical guest on last night's SNL show. The above performance of Power was rather epic.

First of all, I loved the white theme, everything fading in the background. Second, the ballerinas were great, not perfect but I guess that what you get for being live. Unlike last week *cough* Katy Perry *cough* I could actually watch the show without my ear bleeding. God, is she awful live. Kanye may be the biggest douchebag but he did okay.

I like how they somehow transcended the theme of the video to the live performance and for me it is worthy of being a full length version of the original video.

Glee is doing a Britney tribute episode. As always, some of the songs have leaked online ahead of time. I'm totally digging Toxic. Waiting to see if they go crazy with the outfits like they did for Bad Romance. Stop hating Glee, kay? Go back to Justin Bieber or something.

Get ready. You will be blown away. Your brain is about to collapse.

Gone mental yet? I HAVE to read the final book once more.

The MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony will take place on the 7th of November in Madrid, Spain. Not quite as fancy as the VMA's but they're still something, may be worth even more for us, Europeans. Here are the nominees: (I will highlight the acts that I believe should win)

No, I'm not dead. Not yet anyway.

It is unbelievable what impact school can have on you. Not only classes themselves but the whole routine of getting ready for school, actually getting there, pretending to listen then waste even more time in transit getting home. So much wasted time, it's clearly a time black hole.

I think I need to start writing daily again, some people seem to actually read my blog, much to my surprise. I get enough pop culture out of my eternal routine but I feel like others need more. Can't let stupidity and ignorance take over. I have, and want, to be the one who cares.

This Sunday OK Go released yet another extremely creative video. From treadmills trough a Rude Goldberd machine to dogs? And the amazing thing is that most of them aren't Hollywood stunt dogs or something, they're straight from the animal shelter.

Amazing video but how's your day?

Rihanna Only Girl In The World

ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD)

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la
[VERSE 1]
I want you to love me, like I'm a hot guy
Keep thinkin' of me, doin' what you like
So boy forget about the world cuz it's gon' be me and you tonight
I wanna make your bed for ya, then imma make you swallow your pride
[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world
Like I'm the only one that you'll ever love
Like I'm the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world...
Like I'm the only one that's in command
Cuz I'm the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man
Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world
Like I'm the only one that you'll ever love
Like I'm the only one who knows your heart
Only one...
[VERSE 2]
Want you to take me like a thief in the night
Hold me like a pillow, make me feel right
Baby I'll tell you all my secrets that I'm keepin', you can come inside
And when you enter, you ain't leavin', be my prisoner for the night
[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world
Like I'm the only one that you'll ever love
Like I'm the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world...
Like I'm the only one that's in command
Cuz I'm the only one who understands, like I'm the only one who knows your heart, only one...
[BRIDGE]
Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Oh make it last all night
Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Make it last all night
[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world
Like I'm the only one that you'll ever love
Like I'm the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world...
Like I'm the only one that's in command
Cuz I'm the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man
Only girl in the world...
Girl in the world...
Only girl in the world...
Girl in the world...

Amazing, isn't it?

Made a cover for the single:

Rihanna Only Girl In The World

It's been a week since my last post but I'll just pretend nothing's wrong.

Kylie's Get outta my way video is finally out and it's...fabulous.

Sadly the Cyan-Magenta palette was not kept throughout the video but we're still getting a lot of colorful effects, including the vintage red one.

Featuring no plot and a LOT of light effects, the video is a delight to watch. From the LED fitted gloves to the mesmerizing floor, everything falls into place. Even those really white chairs look good thanks to the synchronized choreography.

The pool is still there but this ain't no Slow remake!

Ace of Base is back!

Backed up by new vocals their fan base suffered drastic changes. Melancholics seem to dislike the new girls. I think they should embrace the change. This ain't the 90's. Things, and people, have changed. Sex sells more than ever.

I,for one, love the new vocals, not sure which one of the girls has the raspy voice but it's great. The solo around the 2 20 mark is lovely.

Their comeback was, however, timed perfectly. Right when Alejandro is stuck in everyone's brain. Permanently. Gaga's hit has Ace of Base influences so the two should just slow. People say that one of their leaked songs/demo, Golden Ratio, sounds just like Poker Face. I don't hear that as they both remind me of Eh, Eh, Nothing else I can say.

Was the wait worthwhile?

While waiting for the full video we're being played with. Not that I mind.

I'm loving the Cyan + Magenta visuals. I've always been fascinated by that pair of colors. The only thing I hope for is that it isn't a Slow remake. Here's a great remix by 7th Heaven:

Lady Gaga

Show me yours. I'll show you mine.
Touchin' on my. While I'm touchin' on your.

Dirty lyrics from 3OH!3's epic work. Yesterday I started playing Streets of Gold at work, replacing Teenage Dream [Katy Perry] since I was already able to sing along pretty good and it just got awkward. People were staring. Why not play Gaga? Cause I wouldn't do any work then!

Back to their album, it's pretty good. All the songs are playable, no need to skip any. Listening to them again on my Heartbeats enhances the experience trough the strong bass.

My favorites  are My first Kiss [Ke$ha], Starstruck [Katy Perry],Double Vision,Deja Vu,  Don't trust me, Touchin' on my, Streets of Gold and Love 2012...half of the album is awesome, which is very good.

Awesome concept. Great execution, no CGI, everything is real and raw. I think it's way funnier and cooler this way, editing would've ruined it.

Not sure if it's a one take but Sean did say he has to run from one scene to another while getting some of his clothes off.

Song is great. I like their style so it might be just a bias. Decide for yourself!

Lady Gaga

Happy Second Birthday The Fame. We now love you even more! Paws up!

Recently there have been quite a few collaboration statements, pointed towards Gaga. Warning: Wall of text.

Lady Gaga

Susan Boyle about Gaga: I think Lady Gaga is a wonderful artist and completely original and I like her costumes. Love it! Yes, I’d love to do a duet with her, complete with telephone hat too!

Gaga about Susan Boyle: I love Susan Boyle. She is my woman of the year. It would be great to work with somebody of that talent.

Mika about Gaga: Pop music is really odd at the moment. Gaga has launched every single woman in pop music into this crazy personality crisis. I don’t think men have felt it, it’s a female thing.

Zandra Rhodes: If she did ever want me to design her something, I’d do what I did with Freddie Mercury and Queen – I’d just get her to come over and she could pick out the sort of thing she fancied and I’d work with that. It’s all about seeing how something moves. She could try a few pieces on and we could go from there.

David Bowie: The suggestion that David Bowie is producing and participating in the production of Lady Gaga’s next album is untrue and a hoax.

Janet Jackson on Gaga: What I love about Gaga is her story, where she came from. Before she made it, before anyone knew who she was, I knew who she was and, to see her finally make it, I was so happy . . . if we were to work together that would be cool. I really love Gaga, yeah, and she’s a sweetheart. It’s not always the case when you meet them. You can enjoy their work, but it’s not always … so pleasant when you get to know their personality, and she truly is a sweetheart. She works so hard, and I told her, I think she needs to slow down just a little bit, take some time out for herself.

Lastly, but not least: Happy belated Birthday Dad.

Extra fresh Faithless video, featuring Dido. Not exactly God is a DJ nor Insomnia but it's decent.

The video features two Voodoo dolls representing Maxi Jazz and Dido. The whole same outfit, different skin color is interesting though I only noticed it at the appearance of the second doll. Sadly, the enitre video is based on a Fiat Punto Evo commercial, it cannot live without it and a cropped version of the video clip will probably be seen during commercial breaks on TV. Would've chosen flashier car colors but..mkay.

A while ago I posted about the 13th of August fight between Eat, Pray, Love and The Expendables. However the winner seems to be someone else, he fights the entire world,or so after all. Scott Pilgrim.

I have to go see it. Have to...wait.

Crappiest video ever?

Not exactly, not without good reason. You see, the video is very, very glittery, full of apparently low quality effects, free image generators products and such. But. If you listen to the lyrics you'll notice that she's bashing technology, the interwebz. Most memorable line would be ‘Cause you tweeting me like tweety bird on your iPhone.

We want her to be somebody she is really not. I want her to be somebody not stuck in my head for days. XXXO.

PS: I have not forgotten your rants on Gaga.

The US seems to be loving Katy's singles. Her Teenage Dream rose to 4th place while California Gurls is hanging onto the 8th place. On Billboard's Hot 100 it's the other way around. Back to the freshly released video, it's not that ... special.

Actually you know what...she got the videos wrong. The Teenage dream one should have been for California gurls because of the beach, sun, parties, friends and the sweet, sugary, dreamy video of Cali gurls would've fit her teenage dreams with a few adjustments.

Since it's a dream I expected something more. I expected the dreams of an optimistic, twilight obsessed girl not something quite...normal.

Kanye West. Power. Music video. Renaissance art?

It's fascinating. It's short yet reaches great lengths. Will avoid any kind of cuts on TV, unlike most of Gaga's work. People were actually comparing the two, wondering if it's worth going trough the trouble of a ten minutes video when Kanye's video is just as memorable and has under 100 seconds.

Props to whoever did the editing on the few seconds of footage. Great work right there.

Words can't give a fair description of what is really going on in here.

Eminem's rap and Rihanna's excellently edited vocals on Love the way you lie received an equally awesome video. Hit play and replay again and again and again...

Transformers and Lost fell in love in the bodies of the sexy Megan Fox and rebellious Dominic Monaghan. Eminem and Rihanna give just as great performance, with the ladies edging out a bit on the toughs.

Megan's acting was excellent in my opinion. I hope the autobots are crying oil for her. Might seem like she's been taking some acting lessons, just to give her ex director a cold slap in the face. Well done you crazy pyromaniac.

Dominic seems to have a problem with things written on his hands. Remember Lost? Now Cindy's phone number, the intrigue. Punching walls and breaking mirrors gets fixed by a teddy bear and a flower.

Rihanna's new look debuts in the video, her voice gives me chills. Her subtle face acting expressions surprised me in a pleasant way. I'm digging her new look, plus it fits the whole fire theme. Looking good.

Eminem is a bit out of place in this whole thing. Literally. A corn field? Really? I know it's beautifully filmed, the whole flare effects are great, I've been looking for a summer field wallpaper for a while but that doesn't mean it makes you relevant in this context. Best thing he did was give a reason for the omnipresent flare effects, thank you.

Best [interpreting] scene is probably the one where Eminem is rapping Where you going / I'm leaving you / No you ain't. That and the funny hands in the air scene where they both seem high. Or maybe druken with love?

Dance in the Dark is Gaga's next/current single. It has been released to the aussie radios last week. Also it had an official cover since November and a remix of it is included on Gaga's latest musical release: The Remix [A remix for each of her singles].

Back to DITD: It is the opening song on her tour, it's what makes the crows start roaring so I think it will be more than welcomed. Rumor has it that it's only an AU single, that it won't have a video, that it's only a test and blah blah. No matter what the case is IT is an awesome song. Enjoy!

The sampled and remastered beat of this track is epic. Lyrics are so Kesha-licious I wasn't expecting any less.

Remember the white coat and clean hair? Didn't last for long.

Please start watching the video and stop reading. Spoilers and own thoughts below.

Brilliant music choice. Superb. Songs are great themselves but combined with the idea and graphical results they make a great commercial. You can't say very often that you love watching commercials but this is the case as it's even been nominated for the best TV commercial of the year. Don't know any more about those awards but I'm sure Old Spice has been nominated as well.

Six minutes to save the world.

Aston, the classical cover guys, had a poll up on their site where visitors could vote for their next cover. Bulletproof by La Roux won by thirty votes. Damn you! I wanted Alejandro!

Still, you can see that they have evolved, visually. They had a more interesting set this time [I'll be bulletproof]. However I feel like they failed musically. It's all a bit too boring and the cover doesn't truly match the song. For I while I felt like I could sing Paparazzi, it even fit. In the second half, or should I say last minute things picked up and I loved it. The it moment is when the blonde violinist kicked in. Epic.

I know I haven't posted in a while and I'm sorry for that. I've been on a short holiday as you might know and when I got back I just didn't feel like blogging.

The above image was printed on a custom envelope for my cousin's birthday. Her birthday was on the 29th. You can count the lights yourself if you want to find out her real age, but she'll always be young spirited, she works with children after all.

My mom, my sister and I went over to drink ice cold soda, Yin-Yang ice cream and to mess with her cat as it's eating pizza. Fun!

Speaking of messing stuff up, I had to wake up at 8:30 today to fix the email settings from someone's phone I played with yesterday. Yey!

This definitely needs an awesome sped up mix. Something electronic over the chorus would be sweet. DJ Fembot made a decent attempt. But what it gets, for now, is a video.

Lyrics are great though limited. Christina's voice on And we had magic / And this is tragic is amazing.

What do you think about Aguilera's look? Better or worse?

No time to waste.
One
epic video to show.
Two internet friends met.
Three nights away.
Four days of sunlight.
Five different beds.
Six pools to swim in.
Seven chicks to dance with.
Eight-teen years old.
Nine-ty degrees.
Ten seconds of silence.

I'm getting the hell out of this town! Get out of my way! I'm taking a week off. If you behave or some hot new music pops up I'll post from my iPhone, otherwise sayonara!

Kylie Minogue picked her future single and started playing it in concerts but it doesn't really sound great live so I'll just give you the studio version. It's strange how she switched so fast from worshiping the supposed boy friend to pushing him out of her, supposed life.

Get outta my way
Got no more to say

Dynamite is Taio Cruz' current single, and it has a summery video. Hot girls, workshop, kinda like Rihanna's Shut up and drive!

Sounds like Break your heart, right?

As if one eight minutes video is not enough, Ne-Yo released two last night. One for Beautiful Monster and one for Champagne Life. Trouble is they seemed to have focused more on the first one.

The whole story begins with Beautiful Monster. The story is great, editing is good, it truly got my full attention. I like the song so it's all good:

But then it continues with Champagne Life. The story goes a bit back in time to explain some things but then it hops one year into the future so it stays relevant to the song. Not sure how they could've fixed it. Maybe by avoiding it all together, since the song is crappy? Eh? The end credits do say To be continued so Ne-Yo has a chance to redeem himself and give us a decent ending on a great song. Will he live up the expectations? Only time will tell.

The songs are from his fourth album, Libra Scale, set to be released in September. From the song list my guess for a/the future single is What Have I Done, referring to "creating a beautiful monster" by falling in love.

You might already know that James Cameron [the Avatar and Titanic guy] is directing The Black Eyed Peas Concert..movie...something. Will.I.Am said "There will be a storyline that [Cameron] came up with, which will be dope. It's a full-length film and it's based around our tour activities. We've toured from America and Europe, to the Middle East, South America, Asia and Africa. It's not like we go, 'Yo, we are international, you know what I'm saying? London and Paris!' Nah, that's just two cities. We want to go across the planet."

Should be interesting, even though I wouldn't go to the cinema to see it. Until then, Universal Music France gives us a live, high quality performance of Missing you.
